With the tragic death of George Floyd casting a huge spotlight on the Black Lives Matter movement and the racial injustice plaguing America, I’ve had to address some heavy topics with my kids and it hasn’t been easy. I’ve grappled with trying to determine how much information is too much but have found much-needed help from the following children’s books!

The tumultuous time we’re in right now is presenting us with an opportune situation to teach our young ones about the complex history of racism in America and how it continues to persist today. Instead of shying away from the difficult challenge, use the following books to help educate your children about the prevalent bigotry in our society so that we may one day be able to eradicate it. I hope you find these books as helpful as I did!
