5 Easy Ways to Raise the Feng Shui of Any Space

If you are ever feeling like there is something off in your living space, you are probably sensing the Feng Shui. Feng Shui is defined as the philosophy in which our world is built and guides us on how to live in harmony with the natural world. Feng translate to “wind” and shui translates to “water” in Chinese. Derived from an ancient poem, these translations reflects the idealism of human life if we can connect and flow with the surroundings.

With the rise of Marie Kondo and the art of de-cluttering, there’s no better time to get started on living a more aligned life within the space you have. Read on to for 5 easy tips to help raise the feng shui of any room.

Choose Relaxing Colors

When the receptors in the retina of your eyes pick up the color blue, it is proven that your blood pressure and heart rate slow down, which help prepare the body for sleep and rejuvenation. So, it’s best to pick earthy tones, such as blue, green, and brown.

Stay Clutter-Free

The energy that comes from stored items in your room emit a specific energy that harms thefeng shui. That’s why it’s very important to clean out any clutter or disorganization in order to allow the energy to properly flow around you. Start simple with just one drawer or one small shelf and experience how the act of decluttering can be so vitalizing.

Obtain a Command Center

The placement of your bed in a command center is key in Feng Shui. It is important to not align your bed with your doors. Putting your bed against a wall that is shared with a bathroom also hurts the vibes of your room. By putting your bed in a position away from the door, but still being able to see the door lying down is a “command center” because you can see who enters your space. Placing equal amounts of space between the two sides of your ned also creates a harmonious balance of energy. The same can be applied to a fireplace mantle or the main focal point of any room.

Be Cautious with Electronics

Using electronic devices before bed confuses your bodies internal clock and curbs the release of a sleep inducing hormone called melatonin. With the delay of this hormone, one will have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. It’s also important to note that electronics emit harmful energy when not in use, as well, so it’s important to keep them out of your room.  A substitute for using your phone is reading a book or using a tablet (such as a Kindle) that does not emit blue light.

Use Plants Everywhere

Along with making any space look more lovely, plants play the important role of inviting nature into your living space. In Feng Shui, houseplants can be revitalizing for your energy and are known to help be natural mood-lifters.
