5 Upcoming Houston Events to Add to Your Radar!

Houston has a multitude of events year round and I wanted to share my top picks for upcoming exhibitions and shows that I’m excited about in 2020. These are the things I’m excited about (#notsponsored!) and wanted to put them on your radar as well. From classy to quirky, there’s something for everyone and that’s one of my favorite things about Houston. Plus being a mom, I’m always trying to find fun experiences for the whole family. So check out the following events that I’m looking most forward to and let me know which one you’re most pumped about!

Mesamerica 360

Mesmerica 360 is a fully immersive music and art cinematic projection show for planetariums and giant screen theaters by visionary musician James Hood. It is currently selling out in theaters across the country and will be in Houston until April 26th, 2020.  The show features 360 projections and runs for 1 hour but they do have an age restriction where kids have to be at least 6 years old to attend.

Houston Livestock & Rodeo

The Houston Livestock and Rodeo is coming through strong this year and in case you didn’t know, the organization promotes agriculture by providing a family-friendly live entertainment experience that educates the public, supports Texas youth, and showcases Western heritage. Plus, since 1932, the Rodeo has committed over $500 million dollars toward youth scholarships, junior show exhibitors, educational program grants and graduate assistantships! And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve got Lizzo, Khalid and tons more musicians performing at this year’s event. If you go this year, don’t forget to taste some award-winning bbq!

Art Car Parade

The Houston Art Car Parade is coming up on April 18th and this year is going to be wilder than ever with festivities taking place from April 16th-19th! The Parade is presented by The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art and along with being known as the world’s biggest celebration of Art Cars, it is the largest free public art event that takes place in the city of Houston! My family loves this annual event (which is now in its 32nd year!!) where we get to watch teams from all over North America come and compete for bragging rights/cash prizes!

Dr. Seuss Experience

The Dr.Seuss Experience is a gorgeous, interactive journey through nine of Dr. Seuss’s most beloved books! It’s already making a splash in Toronto and should be arriving to Houston sometime later this year (though dates have not been announced). It’s going to be an Instagram-worthy trip out for the whole family so be sure to keep up with updates on when they’re arriving as I’m sure tickets will go fast!!

Rooftop Cinema

rooftop cinemaWith warmer weather coming up soon, I can’t wait to head back to the Rooftop Cinema! It is by far my favorite new movie theater in Houston and for good reason. They have an incredibly  stunning and serene set-up in the middle of the Galleria! If you haven’t been to this amazing spot yet, add it to your list of places to visit this year. Just be sure to grab tickets early as they do sell out of shows often and be mindful of family-friendly movie times since there are plenty of options to choose from!

The Time I Met Oprah...

So, it’s a pretty fascinating thing to be in a room with Oprah. The entire room buzzes with this palpable energy and as you shift closer to the source; the reverberation was like nothing I’ve experienced before. And then all of a sudden, you’re face to face with THE Oprah Winfrey.
